SignOwl

Anyone can verify your signed documents are authentic

Every document signed through SignOwl gets a SHA-256 hash that acts as a tamper-proof fingerprint. SignOwl's public verification page at signowl.app/verify lets anyone — a judge, a counterparty, a compliance officer — upload a signed PDF and instantly confirm it matches the original. If a single byte has changed since signing, the check fails. No account required to verify.

Benefits

How it works

  1. Sign a document through SignOwlWhen signing is complete, SignOwl computes the SHA-256 hash of the final PDF and stores it in the audit record.
  2. Download the signed PDFThe completed document is available for download by all parties. The hash is embedded in the document's metadata.
  3. Go to /verifyAny party can visit signowl.app/verify and upload the PDF they have in their possession.
  4. Instant resultSignOwl recomputes the hash and compares it to the stored value. A match confirms authenticity; a mismatch means the file was altered.

Frequently asked questions

What does a failed verification mean?

It means the PDF file you uploaded does not match the document that was signed. This could indicate tampering, re-saving with different software, or downloading a corrupt file. Contact SignOwl support if you believe there is an error.

Does the person verifying need to know the document ID?

No. The verification page works by hash comparison alone — just upload the file. The document ID is embedded in the signed PDF metadata and is read automatically.

Can I verify documents signed on other platforms?

The /verify page only checks documents signed through SignOwl. It cannot verify PDFs from DocuSign, Adobe Sign, or other platforms.
